The Demise of Arthur

Battle of Camlann

Mordred, the evil son of Morgawse and King Arthur had been an ultimate threat to Camelot and for several years. Morgawse had attempted to push Mordred to the throne unsuccessfully numerous times. While Arthur was away, Sir Mordred finally got a chance to take the throne. He seized the queen, with intention to make her his wife. As new traveled to Arthur, the King rushed home to reclaim his kingdom. As the battles kept coming, Arthur fought them all the way to Camelot. The two forces of Mordred and Arthur met at Camlann, and fought until three men stood. Arthur, Mordred, and Sir Bedivere. The fued continued until the two noblemen slaughtered each other. Only Sir Bedivere stood standing.

The Destiny of King Arthur

In search of the great king, Sir Bedivere finds Arthur faintly breathing. Uncertain of life, the wounded King ordered this noble knight to take Excalibur back to the lake from which it came. Sir Bedivere hesitantly agrees to perform the dying wish. Bedivere travels to the lake, but cannot throw the sword in. Returning to the king, Sir Bedivere questioned Arthur's motives for disguarding such a magnificent sword. And without answer was sent back to the lake. The knight, knowing the power of Arthur's sword still yet could not throw it in. Once again, returning to Arthur, Sir Bedivere untruthfully tells Arthur his sword was at the bottom of the lake. Needing proof, Arthur asked him what he had seen. Bedivere replied, nothing, only the water lapping the shore. Instantly Arthur realized Bedivere had not been true. Entrusting him once more, Arthur sent his fellow back again. Bedivere tossed the sword into the lake, witnessing a hand rise from the water and clutch the sword.

Arthur's Death

The king recovering for a little gave orders to be taken to Gwynedd, for he intended to stay in the isle of Avalon, where his pains would ease. When they arrived, he was given the Last Sacrament, King Arthur sent for the archbishop of London, who came at once. In the presence of the bishop, Arthur made his confessions, and showed concern of his inevitable death. He rewarded those of loyality, and took leave out of his wicked world. The bishop commended his sprit, and gave prayer. For glorious Arthur had been taken from their midst, leaving Britian without victory.

The next day Arthur's body was taken to a small chapel. A narrow corridor prevented the men from taking the deceased Arthur inside. So the body was left outside, while the bishops entered to give last rights. In this short time, it is told the clouds thundered, the earth shaked, and storms poured from the sky. After the briefest of interlude, the air was filled with a mist which took the light out of day. The mist persisted without divide for hours. Finally when the air had become clear, Arthur's body could not be found. The Once and Future King had been taken to a sanctuary especially for The Great King of Britian, to which no one can see.
